About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing and distribution business based in Witham, Essex.
This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all logistics activities across the business, ensuring the efficient flow of goods from order receipt through to final delivery. Working closely with internal departments, suppliers, hauliers and third-party logistics providers, you will play a key role in maintaining service excellence, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
As Logistics Manager, you will:
- Oversee and continuously improve end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring cost-effective and efficient processes.
- Act as the primary escalation point for logistics-related issues, resolving challenges quickly and effectively.
- Monitor live logistics activities, warehouse throughput, and inbound/outbound movements.
- Proactively identify potential delays or risks and communicate solutions to stakeholders.
- Manage all inbound and outbound logistics activities, including customer deliveries, supplier collections and stock transfers between sites.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hauliers, transport providers and third-party logistics partners.
- Coordinate inter-site stock transfers, ensuring accurate scheduling and timely execution.
- Maintain and manage logistics planning schedules, ensuring operational priorities are met.
- Work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Warehouse teams to ensure seamless operational coordination.
- Analyse logistics performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience within a logistics, transport, planning or supply chain management role.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience operating within a logistics environment.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced operation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A proactive approach with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement solutions.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Experience using SAP would be advantageous.
- A flexible and collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across departments.
